The next Alternative Energy Meeting for the County of Santa Barbara

Time: 1pm to 2pm or later depending on speakers and questions.

We are currently holding off all meetings until we line up more speakers.

We will update this Blog Site on the speakers and what they will cover as we get closer to the meeting date. We are working on getting a speaker from the http://www.pickensplan.com/ through their California Representative Mary Ann Carter. We are also working on getting a speaker from http://www.solarpanelsplus.com/ and will update this blog post once we do and with any changes on the date and time.

Call or email with any questions before the meeting. Get back to us with any information you would like covered or speakers you would like to hear from. Always check this blog site a day before coming to any meetings to make sure the meeting is still taking place and to see if there are any changes in the dates, times, or places. We recently had someone show up to find there was no meeting. Emails are not the best because of spam filters and people not checking their emails before showing up for a meeting, so do check this blog site the day before going to any meetings.

Alternative Energy Meeting August 7th 2008

We are back on for a Santa Barbara County Alternative Energy meeting.

This will be held a Denny's located at 5677 Calle Real Goleta, CA 93117 from 12 noon to 1pm on August 7th 2008.

We will have the following speakers:
Dan Ringwald - Covering the Personal Power Project and EV Charging Stations
Arjun Sarkar - Our Earth Day Green Car Coordinator covering alternative energy for cars
Richard Dean - Owner of RM Tec - covering Solar, Wind, and passive water heating systems

This will give you a good idea of what's available now to save you money and how you go about implementing the opportunities.

First Meeting rescheduled to August 7th 2008

Due to the Gap Fire our first Alternative Energy meeting will be rescheduled to August 7th 2008. It will be at the same place, Denny's in Goleta at 12 noon until 1 pm or longer if needed.

Out of 1,700 people with mandatory evacuation from the fire and 2,400 on alert it stands as a testament to the incredible work the fire fighters are doing that not a single home has been lost!

I live with my wife, son, and daughter, on about 7 acres on West Camino Cielo and we are still in a mandatory evacuation status. We watched a fire fighter on a bulldozer drive into burning brush and push it right over the ridge top within less than a quarter mile from our home. He made our day! They are all doing a fantastic job fighting this fire. The next opportunity I have to make a donation to the fighters I will because they have, as usual, earned it. I hope you will too.

With the power going off and on 4 times a day for hours at a time it was another good example of the importance of alternative energy. We made it through with a back up generator and I am happy to say we are working with Richard Dean who owns and operates www.RMTec.net. We are moving forward on permits for wind and solar which will eventually be very helpful during times of no power and of course charging electric cars.

Welcome to the new Blog Spot site for the Personal Power Project and Alternative Energy. We are using Meetup.com and other sources for organizing meetings for Santa Barbara County. Our mission is to beat the price of gas through Alternative Energy.
